Now you may have a few auxiliary things that you're gonna want to add in, but these are gonna cover at least safely getting your vehicle down the road. And starting on the vehicle side, we have our base plate and this is gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle and create the structural mounting point for the rest of the components. Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster Diode Wiring on a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK. Diode wiring is definitely becoming the normal trend when it comes to flat towing vehicles. The other alternatives are going to be magnetic lights, which those work fine, but the problem is these newer vehicles, and especially Jeeps, a lot of 'em aren't magnetic. So you're not gonna be able to have those be able to stick on there, and then you're still having to drape that wire every time you want to hook up and then you have to store them. Where diodes, once you have 'em installed, you just plug in your umbilical and they're ready to go. Now when it comes to flat towing any vehicle, there's gonna be five main components that are gonna be required, and these are just the basics that you'll have to have. more

Now depending on your needs, the diode kits are available in a few different configurations and really it comes down to what other accessories do you need to pick up. So you can get the kit with a 4 pole end, with no ends on it. You can also get it with an umbilical that is a straight cable, a coiled cable or a hybrid cable. And that's gonna be important if your tow bar, our Roadmaster has our umbilical, but you are gonna need to have that component to make sure that your flat tow system works. So getting it with your diode wiring might not be a bad time to group that all together. more

Adding diode wiring to a flat towed vehicle is slowly becoming kind of a requirement. A lot of times you see flat towed vehicles with the magnetic lights and you have to drape those wires up. Well, nowadays you can tie into the factory taillights and that way when you plug into your 6-pole to the seventh via the umbilical you're gonna get all the same light sequences from the RV. So as you brake, use your turn signals, use your running lights, it's all gonna transmit to the back of your vehicle letting people know what you're indicating to do. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Demco Diode Wiring for Towed Vehicles on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now there's five main components required when flat towing a vehicle and starting on the vehicle side, it's gonna be your base plate. And base plate is going to attach to the structural frame or at least bumper supports of a vehicle, creating a solid mounting point. It's also gonna create other mounting points for your other components, including your tow bar. So your tow bar's gonna attach to the arms and that's gonna be the connection point between the base plate and the hitch on the RV. Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Tow Ready diode wiring for a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now your base plate is gonna be one of five main components required for flat towing your vehicle, and the base plate creates a structural support that mounts to the frame of the vehicle allowing you to hook up to your towbar. And your towbar is the connection point between the towed vehicle and the RV. Now there's also gonna be your safety cables, which are gonna attach to that base plate and they're integrated into it, and that's also going to attach to the hitch on the RV. So in case we do have a disconnect, we still have those cables holding everything together. Now you're also gonna need a braking system which is gonna allow you to slow and stop, have that towed vehicle do the same thing as you apply those brakes on the RV. more

And the main reason for installing diodes here at the back, it'll allow all your motor home signals to come from your motor home's seven-way connector and illuminate this light. But if you we're to just wire it up without diodes, it would not only illuminate the light, but it would also backfeed on your circuitry and potentially damage components on the vehicle. The diodes act is a one-way check file for electricity that will let it go from our motor home to our light, but it will not let it go back down our factory wiring and effect anything on our vehicle. Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring Kit Installation - 2011 Jeep Patriot- Video
Hi there, Jeep owners, today in your 2011 Jeep Patriot, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's diode wiring kit. All the components are gonna be hidden behind your taillight assembly, so you're really not gonna notice any modifications to the vehicle. They tap directly into the factory lighting circuits and they act as a one-way check valve that only lets current flow one direction to the bulbs, but it can't back feed. And this allows us to add the additional wiring for our motor home so that when we plug into our motor home, we can send all the lighting signals from our motor home to the same factory lights here on our vehicle, so that way, these will also illuminate, letting people know our intentions when we're going down the road. And when those signals come up the wires from our motor home, it'll light the bulb, but the diode prevents it from going back down the factory wiring, causing any damage to the vehicle. This is my personal favorite way to get lighting set up on your flat tow set up 'cause some of the other options, well, for example, like the Blue Ox or the Demco diodes, their diodes just don't seem to be as robust as the Roadmaster ones, these ones have a very large heat sink on them to dissipate heat and they just seem to work very well. more

Hey everyone, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit here on a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. So a diode wiring kit is just gonna be one of the many things that we need in order to successfully flat tow our Jeep here. Now, what this does is, this is gonna transfer these signals from the motor home to our Jeep. So we can let other motorists out on the road know what signals we're gonna be making, allowing us to arrive to our destination, safe and sound. Now, this is not only a safety requirement, it's also a legal requirement in nearly every state when you're flat towing your vehicle. So it does require that we splice into the factory taillight circuit but it's only two wires on either side. more

Roadmaster Universal Diode Wiring Kit Installation - 2022 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit on a 2022 Jeep Cherokee. Now this is available in a bunch of different options based on your needs. So if your tow bar doesn't have an umbilical, you can actually pick it up with a coiled cable or a straight cable. Also, you can pick up the wiring bundle without any connectors, or some of them actually have the 4 pole on the front. It's kind of up to you, what you wanna choose. Now there's five main components that are required when flat towing a vehicle and the first one we'll start off with is the base plate and that's gonna actually attach to the vehicle via the bumper mounts or the chassis and it's gonna be a secure mount for us to be able to attach our tow bar and the tow bar is gonna be the second component and that's gonna make the connection point between your base plate and the actual towing of the RV. more

So the first thing is gonna be your base plate and what this is gonna do is provide you with a solid and reliable connection point, that way you can hook your tow-bar up. Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look in installing the Roadmaster Smart Diode Wiring Kit for towed vehicles on a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Now, when you're setting a vehicle up for flat towing, there's gonna be five required components enabled to do this. And the first one being the base plate. So that's where we can actually make that connection point between the vehicle and the tow bar. The tow bar is gonna be the connection point between that base plate and the actual RV's hitch. Now, you'll also have your supplemental braking system. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit here on a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. So a diode wiring kit is going to fall under the category of a tow bar wiring, which is just one of the many things you need in order to successfully flat tow your Jeep. Now, there's quite a few different options in regards to that tow bar wiring. The diodes, however, are best, in my opinion. So the reason I like the diode wiring kit is that it actually uses our factory tail lights here. Therefore, we don't have to worry about draping any lights over the vehicle, like some of the magnetic kind and we don't have to worry about actually drilling into or modifying our tail light housing like some of the bulb and socket kits. more

Hi there Jeep owners, Standard 2021 Jeep Cherokee, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster Smart Diode wiring kit for models that have LED lights. Our Smart Diode Wiring kit is gonna take the lighting signals from our motor home and transfer them here to the back of our vehicle so that the people behind us will know our intentions when we're flat towing our vehicle down the road. You can see that the hazard lights I've got them turned on in our motor home and as it flashes there, it also flashes here in the back and mimics the signal. Now it is gonna be a little bit different than your natural lighting when you're driving the vehicle around. The Jeep here, if it has the park sense, which we do have park sense on this Jeep here. It's required to have the smart diode kit instead of a regular diode kit. more

Hey, everyone, Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2017 Jeep Commander, I'm going to walk through how to install the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit with seven to four pole flexicoil umbilical. The dial wiring is going to be one of the five main components to flat tow any vehicle behind a motor home. The other four are going to be your base plate, your tow bar, your safety cables, your wiring and your braking system. Your base plate is gonna attach to the chassis of the vehicle to give you a solid connection point for your tow bar. Your tow bar is going to give you that solid connection point between the base plate on your towed vehicle and your motor home, your safety cables are going to be a secondary safety device. more
